How do big corporations register their domain names?

Do they use a website like godaddy.com ? Or are they able to just register one with their own computer and without paying? Since they are such a powerful organization?

AND, like how does godaddy.com and register.com pay for their domain names?? Can they just make them for free for their self??
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is responsible for managing the assignment of domain names and IP addresses. ICANN
