Should I be a teacher or a nurse?

I can't decide whether I want to be a teacher or a nurse. If I go into nursing I want to work with children with cancer but I also have an interest in being a teacher. If I would be a teacher I want to teach elementary school. I really love both. Both are promising careers to get into both make pretty good money. Good Hours if planning on having children someday. I am a sophomore in high school and between these two careers.

There is a lot of security with being a nurse. The hours are very flexible and the pay is great. You would have much more flexibility with your schedule if you were a nurse, you can work nights, evenings, part-time or as needed. You set your own schedule. With being a teacher, you have about 2-3 months off in the summer and holidays, but your committed the rest of the time.

If you enjoy teaching, nursing involves teaching patients and family also. Consider a career as a school nurse.

Consider maybe teaching nursing once you have your BNS or MSN.

My mother is a teacher and I'm a nurse. I considered teaching children, but came out of college as a nurse. I started off nursing thinking I would like to work with children, but instead I work with senior citizens. I work a 2-3 nights a week @ $25 an hour. When I need more money, such as for travel, I pick up more shifts. Sometimes I will even pick up work with home health agencies. The important thing while you are in nursing school is to consider all fields and specialties then decide.

In the US, both fields are in extremely high demand. They are respected professions and a person who is dedicated can go far and have a satisfying career. This decision of course, will have to be yours to make. All I would like to say is that The medical and health care and health related industries are the fast growing industry in the world. Advancement and opportunities are beyond all horizons. My advise, speak to a counselor at an accredited nursing college. Make an appointment and have a heart to heart career talk. They'll be glad to speak to any enthusiastic student. Best of luck. ps: This is the time in your life when these things should be researched. You're going through the right thought processes and I believe you will go far in life. Go for it.

I am a teacher, it sucks, but the holidays are cool! And since your in the US (I am in the UK) you get more holidays than me!! Awesome, man I wish I was in the states!

I think teaching would be better.

What are some Common Questions Asked in a Job Interview?

Hey, guys. I'm going for a job interview tomorrow (it's for a part-time summer student position during the summer), and would like to prepare for it. What are some of the more common questions employers may ask me and are there any tips on how to answer them? If you can draw from personal experience, that would be great.

Thanks.

What can you offer to the organization?

Wich are your weak points?

What are your expectatives about your new employment?

What achievements did you reach in your old job?

Why should I choose you over hundreds and hundres of candidates?

They could ask things like: "What are your strengths and weaknesses?", "What do you think you'll get out of this job?" and "Where do you see yourself in ten years?"

But honestly, whenever I've interviewed for a part-time summer job, it's usually just, "What hours can you work? OK, cool, see you Monday." It's not a career-ish job interview, so they probably aren't going to interrogate you about your hopes and dreams. They might ask what your major is, but that's probably as personal as it'll get.

well i am also doing part time jobs like as Data entry job and more and more about it and earn money by sitting at own home and its very easy work to do i am working this from Google Inc and very easy work for you for more detail you can see the kind of jobs from there

Is it worth it to take this job?

Hey guys. I've just been offered a part-time job at Schlotzky's Deli. It's pretty exciting, because I haven't been offered a job ALL year because I 'don't have enough work experience'. How am I supposed to get any work experience if nobody is hiring me for that reason?

Anyways, they've offered me a job, BUT, I'm going on a 3 week vacation in June! That means I'll only be working there for about a month and a half, and odds are they aren't going to want me to continue working there after I return from my vacation after almost being gone a whole month. I really want the job because I want to have some experience on my future resumes and I would like the extra cash, but the only problem is ...

Would it be beneficial to have on my resume a job that I worked for a month and a half? Or would that count against me? I've never had a real 'job' before. Thanks ;)

Okay....this happened to me. I started a job then found out I had to leave the country and they fired me. They don't want someone that will just leave when they start.

I think it's best to be honest from the beginning. Tell them that you will be going away from X dates-give exact dates when you leave and come back-and can you still continue work there when you get back...?

Just do it for 6 weeks who says you have to put it on your resume? If you last that long it will do you good and give you some bucks, sounds like you are trying to weasel out of it to me!

Chickening out and playing Space Invaders for 6 weeks instead will count against you in life experience whether you tell anyone or not!

i would take the job, then once you get hired, find someone to cover your shifts about 3 weeks before you go. as long as you find someone to cover your shifts, you'll still have a job when you get back.

you should be honest and let them know you plan to take off, but def want to work when you get back

What is a good career choice for me?

I am good at math and science. I love all my science courses, but math has always been my strongest suit. I have taken honors Biology and honors Chemistry so far and like them both, but Chemistry is easier for me. I will be taking AP Biology, AP Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology, and honors Physics before I graduate. I have taken honors Geometry and honors Algebra 2 so far. I will be taking honors Pre Calculus and AP Calculus plus College Algebra before graduating. I am also pretty good in my computer class. I type pretty fast and love working with computers. I am on the UIL Computer Applications team. I will be taking accounting next year to see if that is a strong suit. I am lost in all the searches for careers that I am interested in. Please help me.

I think they would want you in the space program. They need strong skills in all you mention.

you could become a science or math teacher.

since you love science and math and you are good at it and take biology and chem. in AP you could become a veterinarian.

you could become an accountant since you are good at math

good luck ;]

Where can a 14/15 year old get a job at?

I would like to know where a 14 year old can get a job at besides over the summer. I will be 15 in June and I live in Los Angeles, California USA. A real job besides Baby Sitting & Making money of the Internet. Thanks, Links would be helpful too

a really cool job for the summer would be working at a movie theatre. You get discounts, sometimes get to see movies (if not, parts of it), and ur always in a building with AC. My cousin worked at a movie theatre and he LOVED it.

If you don't wanna do that, working at a really cool girl/guy clothing store is cool. If you love shopping, you get discounts on the clothing for a women's store, but if u work at a men's store, you get to help guys, and sometimes u'll get really cute guys. That is of course, if you wanna be in that type of atmosphere.

Hope this helped! Good luck!

There is a waiting period of a couple weeks after you file your claim.

Check with your local EDD office, they will have all the details. Or check their website.

Do you think I will get the sack?

I just started a job a month ago, which involves going into workplaces and giving a training course to the staff. I keep finding myself arriving at these places, and finding the managers weren't told the full facts about the course, even though they have signed and agreed for me to come and deliver the course.

I face these dilemmas where I arrive somewhere and start teaching, then people say, "we weren't told this and that when the course was sold to us...." etc.

I tried to tell the company, and they just say the customer has been told, and I am to sort it out and carry the agreement through.

If it was a one-off I would say the customer was being difficult, but the fact it happens on a regular basis makes me think the company is at fault.

Should I apologise to the customer and make the company look like they are at fault? Should I encourage the customer to complain to the company? Will I get sacked for this?

I just don't know which way to turn. Plz help, thanks.

My best advice is better prepare yourself and to always expect these concerns to be addressed by customers. Inform your company that there is an issue with the lack information that is being given out. You must communicate this issue with your company and show that you show interest in resolving the problem. As far as dealing with customers always be as diplomatic as possible and be careful in mentioning that the company you are representing is at fault. Offer contact numbers or email addresses where they can find solutions. Remember that if it happened once it would surely happen again. So your best bet is to be prepared.

And most importantly, it%26#039;s not a SCAM and I can prove it. But you can get paid by check, you can have the money sent instantly to your PayPal account, E-Gold account, Alert account, Liberty Reserve account, or you can spend your points that you earn to buy anything you want on Amazon.

A few ways that you can earn points.is by completing offers, surveys, playing games or referring other people. But most of the offers are quick, very easy to do, and 100% Free.

If you sign up following these 5 steps you will automatically start off with $3.00

4. Go to %26quot;Account%26quot; and click on %26quot;Phone Verification.%26quot; You will get a voice message with the code. Wrote down the code on a piece of paper.

5. Go back to %26quot;Phone Verification%26quot; and type in the code in the box and hit submit.

And if you want some proof that other members of the website are actually receiving their prizes, then check out my blog. http://freestufffromamazon.blogspot.com/

Where/ how would you start in getting a white collar job?

i work in the medical field right now and I HATE IT! i would like to work a white collar job where i work in a cubicle all day in my own little world. My job experience is all medical related though so i'm assuming that i'd have to start at the bottom which is fine but i still don't know where and how to start. First: do i necessarily need a bachelors degree and if so, does which major i take matter? R there any type of white collar jobs that don't require a BA? second: im guessing i have to go through an agency so how do i find such angencies, do i just research "white collar job agency" or something. any feedback/ info would be appreciated.

you can be a stock broker without a bachelor's degree. you just have to pass the test and get your licenses. that's why people always lose their money investing with stockbroker salesmen. They assume the brokers are educated in finance. In reality they are not. You can be a good broker.

Do you think a travel agent is a good job?

I'm thinking of becoming a travel agent and studying for it, do you think its a good career move?

For general career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'travel agents', 'lodging managers' (like hotel management that someone else suggested) or such.

I'm not really sure how much agents are needed these days due to the internet and such as others have pointed out. I do know that agents may work irregular hours including nights and/or weekends since a lot of people would prefer to call on the weekends to plan their vacation.

If still interested, please consider the more affordable programs such as the county vo-tech school or community college (or even state uni if interested in bachelor's degree) as opposed to those private $$ tech schools.

Please also forgo those online, for profit schools such as penn foster, capella, ITT tech, sanford brown, university of phoenix, kaplan, strayer, devry, walden, stratford career, US career and others: http://www.ripoffreport.com and can type into search.

For US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ

My neighbour is a travel agent, and she has a really nice house :) No, in all seriousness i think it is a great job, she has been doing it for a while, and worked up the ranks, and she is away every weekend or two to numerous different countries, constructing tour plans, and networks, she gets paid to travel as well. Of course there is the more humble job of not travelling with others but sending them on their way, and that is still fulfilling. Anything where you get to see the world is a good job, and worth the time. It is good pay and I guess a very good job for someone without a young family or dependent kids. My dad used to work for a travel company in the 80s and he said it was the best thing he ever did, he got to see the world and meet wonderful people in the process, to be a little of the mainstream track and see the world in a different perspective. I hope it works out well. Good luck!

It used to be a good career, but things have changed. The internet with all the travel sites have put many stand alone travel businesses out of business. Also, the recession has stopped much of the travel, as people do not have extra money to throw away, having lost their jobs, home values, IRA values.

My mom owns a travel agency, but up until like 2 years ago she wasn't an owner, she was just an agent and she made alright money. She is a single mom with three kids and we have like a nice house and everything, so you make like good money as long as you sell a good amount since a lot of your pay comes from commission.

It's a very detail oriented and multi tasking job. Well, there isn't much you can do to study for it-there is hotel management majors in college but nothing else like travel agent. You just need very strong administrative and social skills.

the internet has effectively killed this job.

Entertainment promoter jobs?

I'm 15 and I want to be an entertainment promoter in California (southern)

like passing out fliers outside venues after a show/gig/concert/etc...

preferably for raves and festivals or any up coming events in the music industry really...

(it's somewhat like a street team except for raves and stuff)

do you know of any place that would hire someone to do those jobs?

even if they don't pay I'm willing to do it...

if so, please send me their webpage. thanks ^_^

There are no websites offering those jobs. You would have to ask the people currently doing it where they learned about the job.

Consider holding your first rave. Do it all yourself. Hire the band. Pay rent for a location. It might cost you $500 cash. If you charge $15 at the door, you could make $1,500 in one night. Then you would never have to worry about someone else hiring you. People would be coming to you to hire them. Be brave.

Why won

I emailed the library two times (to two different people) asking if they had a paying job (shelving books or something) for a 16 year old. Both times they said that there are only volunteer jobs for people under 18. (It's not like I'm going to be handling cash or anything) That's what the first librarian told me and the other person didn't say it in those exact words but said that there are no paying jobs available for me, I guess they didn't want to say it the way the other person did. But is that true? When did that start that? Is it just because of the economy or has it always been like that? I really wanted to work there as my first job. Since I only got an email response do you think I should go in person and ask if I would be able to work there/ask for an application? Would that help? Any help is appreciated!

it does not sound unusual. i have worked in libraries for 30 years and the only 16 year olds i saw were there on the high school work experience program. Why not go in person yes but ask for a voluntary job if you can spare even half a day a week. It will give you experience and referees that the next 16 yo might not have.

Most libraries can get all the under 18 workers they want as volunteers. In some places like my province, high school students have to find 80 hours of volunteer work during their 4 years of high school to graduate. So libraries, YMCA and a lot of other social services get flooded with requests to volunteer.

The volunteers have to do a creditable job to claim those hours for credit to graduate. This is like communist Cuba!

Well you could just volunteer there. Libraries have more volunteer positions than paying ones so if they're saying they have nothing open as far as actual employment then they don't. They're not going to pay somebody when they have others willing to do the job for free.

Is it Love/hate or Boring/interesting ?

In this time of recession we do not really have a choice.

Eg: I am a have done my engineering in computer science and was hoping to work for some reputed or multinational software firm.

Can you guess what I am doing currently??

I am working as a CSR and provide technical support on the phone for a miserly salary and had I graduated a couple of years I would be working in some IT company earning 10 times more than I am currently earning.

But something is better that nothing.

If it is Love or Hate then I hate this job due to the poor package.

If it is interesting or boring then this job is very interesting as I provide IT related technical support which I enjoy as I get to learn may new things and am updated about every new technology and other IT services.

So I hate my job even though it is not boring and I like it.

Please note that I Like my job but do not love my job.

I hate it even though it is interesting and not boring....

I work as a learning mentor in my old secondary school (I left 3 years ago) and work with low ability students in English and Health and social care. I absolutely love my job no matter how the kids behave- I wouldn't change it for the world.. although it can be stressful there is always worse things going on in the world compared to me.

whether or not i like my job depends on the day and the department for me...i work in a grocery store in 4 departments: front end (cashiers & service counter), floral (which i manage), bookkeeping, and grocery. it's a little dull and the pay isn't that great, but the people i work with are awesome.
